with all due respect to the high life...

My three favorite beers for the Winter (in no particular order):

-Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Stout (tough to find, you better like bourbon!)
-Legend's Duck Creek Dunkel (favorite locally brewed beverage)
-Tyranena Brewing's Rocky's Revenge (another bourbon brew, a little less "kick" than the CWBBS)

None of which I've heard of but all of which sound right up my alley. Not a bad stout glass either!

I buy a case of the Central Waters Bourbon Stout every year....so damn good. I make half of it last until fall...or try to anyway.

AYOTF,

Yeah, if you can find them, drink them. Pretty good on a day like today, where the mercury may have hit 2 degrees!

Matt,

Yeah, it is solid. Much more of a bourbon taste than some of the other BBS beers. A couple on an empty stomach will mess with your cells for sure!

if you like the BBS, then give their Peruvian Morning a try. still barrel-aged, but with a touch of java to boot. I gotta go finish mine now. Also, a short wait til Central Waters' Illumination rolls out for Spring! I "loaned" Tim one, and never got it back. Bastard...

I went to college with the guys who own Central Waters...they make damn fine beer.
The BBS is pretty bourbon-y when its first bottled (ages in Heaven Hill barrels) but the bourbon cools off a bit in the bottle after it sits for a few months. So smooth once fall rolls around...
A few will surely warm the brain.

If you're into porter's at all..need to go find Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter...and Ale Asylum Contorter Porter. Both kickass beers.

CW's Brewhouse Coffee stout is also top-shelf--

and Tim's not really a bastard per my earlier post. He just owes me a beer, that's all.

Jay,

Will do! I have a couple empty ones on the counter that I keep meaning to stop by and fill up. If I was closer they'd be full all the time! You guys coming up again this summer?
