Sometimes it's great to step back a bit...
I caught this fish today standing on a rip-rap wall under a bridge. And it wasn't on a pretty fly by any means. It was a big chartreuse bugger-looking thing with rubber legs. I backhanded a cast, fed some line out into the current and started stripping. Nothing graceful about it.
Makes you wonder.
Casting a two-handed rod is awesome. I'd do it every day if I could. And the flies we swing are beautiful renderings of some sort of creative artistic expression. But, sometimes we need to roll up our sleeves and go back to how we did it when we were younger and didn't know what the hell we were doing. It feels good to know that that way still works...
